Google launched the second generation of Penguin back in late May; the update was designed to target websites that adopted spammy link building tactics and for the most part it was a success. However some of the darkest and most blackhat of search results were left completely untouched. And on Wednesday of this week Google, for the first time in its history, released an update that targeted specific markets; most notably, the ‘payday loan’ market.
Was this update determined algorithmically or manually? How were the search results impacted and can we expect to see more of this moving forward?
Apologies for the blurring issues this week!
