The first ever Apple computer goes under the hammer

When Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak first sold their Apple 1 computer for $666, they probably didn’t anticipate it fetching a further quarter of a million pounds 35 years later.

The Apple 1 was the first ever ready-made PC, created in a garage and packing a mere 8k of memory. Yet despite humble beginnings, the Apple 1 paved the way for its increasingly powerful and attractive offspring, the iMac, iPhone, iPod and iPad.

Now one of just 6 working Apple 1 computers is due to be sold at auction for £250,000, making it one of the cheaper products in the current Apple range.
